Losing a loved one – Deceased Estates
We understand that losing a loved one is an incredibly stressful and challenging time for you and your family. The team at Australian Military Bank is here to support you with banking arrangements by explaining what’s required throughout the process, from initial notification to finalisation of the estate.
Notifying the Australian Military Bank (AMB) of your loved one’s passing
Let us know of your loved one’s passing as soon as you can. You can contact us directly, or engage a Solicitor to act on your behalf. Get in touch with us by:
• Calling our Member Engagement Centre on 1300 13 23 28 8 am – 6 pm Monday to Friday AEST or Saturday 9 am – 12 pm AEST.
• Visiting one of our branches.
• Emailing our deceased estates team on deceasedestate@australianmilitarybank.com.au.
Confirming your relationship with your loved one
We can share account information with the authorised estate representative. We must verify the representative’s entitlement to represent the estate. We will require the following to do this:
• A copy of the certified Death Certificate, Will, Probate, or Letters of Administration.
• Certified copies of photo identification of all Executors.
• Confirmation of the financial institution receiving the funds.
If you are a Solicitor representing the estate, please notify us in writing (via mail or email) to request the relevant account information.
Immediate Expenses
Funeral Expenses
We can release money from the estate to cover the funeral service if required. If you are yet to pay for the funeral, you can email the tax invoice to deceasedestate@australianmilitarybank.com.au or visit an AMB branch. If you have already paid for the funeral expenses, please email deceasedestate@australianmilitarybank.com.au to discuss reimbursement.
Estate Expenses
We can also release money from the deceased estate to pay for other costs like unpaid bills or expenses relating to the estate.
