Fraud protection
At Australian Military Bank preventing the unauthorised use of your card and protecting your payments from fraud is one of our key priorities.
The below are just two examples of how we detect fraud on our member’s accounts and payments.
NPP (Real Time) Payments
With frauds and scams becoming increasingly sophisticated your NPP (Real Time) payments are secured via a series of rules that protect high risk transactions from fraud.
Payments that are deemed to be high risk will be held by Vigil, our fraud monitoring service until their team can verify the payment with you. You will contact via an SMS sent in real time from these numbers only +61489988024 and +61437126492.
These SMS messages will never:
- Ask for sensitive information like an access code, OTP or internet banking password or
- Include links in messages or send messages from other numbers.
If you receive one of our SMS messages please call the Fraud team on 1300 705 750 to discuss the held payment, the payment will then be declined or approved according to your confirmation. If you do not respond within 24 hours, the funds will be returned to your account.
Online shopping secured with Visa secure and EFTPOS secure
Visa and EFTPOS has enhanced its security for online purchases making the experience more seamless and easy while protecting you from fraud.
During a purchase from desktop, mobile or other digital device, you may be guided through an extra check to verify your identity such as a one time password (OTP). This helps us ensure you’re protected from fraud and can safely and securely make purchases online.
Learn more about how it works here. This service will automatically work at checkout at any of Visa's participating online merchants. Remember, there’s no need to download anything, install software, or register for an account to get this added layer of protection. When using this service, you may occasionally be prompted at checkout to verify your identity, but this is to ensure you’re you and protect you from fraud. Please note that only participating merchants will have this extra layer of security enabled on your transactions.
